FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C)
SINGAPORE – Citi has appointed Lee Lung Nien as Citi Country Officer and Banking Head (CCOBH) for Singapore. This marks a historic appointment as Lung is the first Singaporean in 50 years to hold Citi’s most senior position in Singapore.
Lung takes over from Tibor Pandi, who departs after spending 8 years in Asia making significant contributions to the firm in Thailand and Singapore as CCO and Banking Head since 2017. Throughout his tenure, Tibor has actively engaged with external stakeholders, strengthening Citi’s brand, reputation and relationships with clients and regulators alike. With the change, he will explore other opportunities within the firm.
In his new role, Lung will oversee all Citi businesses and operations in Singapore, driving franchise performance, managing key client and regulatory relationships, and ensuring a robust risk and control environment. He will report to Amol Gupte, Citi’s Head of Asia South, joining the Asia South Management team on October 6.
Commenting on Lung’s appointment Amol Gupte said, “A product of Citi's global talent program, Lung brings a wealth of multi-market experience and proven leadership, positioning him ideally to lead the Singapore franchise.”
A 35-year Citi veteran, Lung most recently served as Chairman of Citi Private Bank for South Asia since 2020. His extensive career includes leadership roles such as CEO of Citibank Berhad in Malaysia and various senior positions in AML, Operations, Corporate Sales & Structuring, and Markets across Asia, with international experience in London, New York, and Malaysia. His deep client knowledge and interpersonal skills are expected to further advance the Singapore franchise.
