Sara Wechter

Chief Human Resources Officer

Sara Wechter is Citi's Chief Human Resources Officer, responsible for the company’s overall talent strategy and key functions including recruiting, learning and development, talent management, total rewards and employee relations. She assumed this role in July 2018.

Under Sara’s leadership, Citi has been recognized as an industry leader in workplace practices, from its early commitment to pay transparency to transitioning its 200,000-plus workforce to a hybrid work model.

Prior to this role, Sara served as Citi's Head of Talent and Diversity as well as Chief of Staff to former Citi CEO Mike Corbat. She has held several roles since first joining Citi in 2004. After working in Investment Banking, Sara joined Citi's Corporate M&A and Strategy team in 2007 and worked on the sale of Smith Barney and the government investments during the financial crisis. She also served as Chief of Staff to Richard Parsons and Michael O'Neill during their respective terms as Chair of Citi's Board of Directors. During her time with the Chairs, Sara supported Citi’s Board of Directors through a CEO transition, regulator and government engagements, and the re-composition of the Citi Board.

Sara serves on the Board of Directors of the Citi Foundation, the Board of Directors of Onex Corporation, NYU Langone Board of Overseers, NYU Langone’s KiDS Advisory Board, and is the Vice Chair elect of the Marlene Meyerson JCC Board of Directors in New York City. Sara is a graduate of Emory University and lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
