Jamie Burke (CEO/Founder, Outlier Ventures) joined Ronit Ghose for a follow up conversation to discuss the emerging metaverse and what it is and is not.
Jamie emphasizes the importance of an open metaverse wherein individuals have sovereign ownership of their identity, data & wealth. His thesis is that the medium to long term growth in DeFi could come from the bridges built between CeFi and DeFi but in the near term a lot of growth in DeFi will be fueled by NFTs (digital collateral). Jamie believes the growth from the unlocking of digital value currently trapped in platforms will be significant and social, e-commerce & retail could all become huge within the metaverse ecosystem.
